Taco Bell Circa 1982
Check out these cool photos from Taco Bell #1235 in Olathe KS, a suburb of Kansas City MO. The restaurant is now longer a Taco Bell (at 1157 East Santa Fe Street) but a new one is directly across from it.
The store opened May 20th, 1976 and had 38 seats. A drive-thru was added January of 1983. It’s fun to look at how the restaurants were decorated and run compared with how they are nowadays.

Dining Room 2 (1983-84) shows spanish tile on counter, dark woodgrain formica, and the new “Par Microsystems” cash registers. Gone were the old Sweda cash registers, where staff had to know the prices, and ring people up like a retail store!

Dining Room 4 (1986) was when striping had already been applied to the walls, in anticipation of replacing the tufted orange booths with the familiar tables with natural wood edges, and colors corresonding to these stripes, still in use in many locations. Our stripes were green and orange. Some locations had blue and peach, etc.

Real case of lettuce heads, being prepped the old way, thru a Hobart machine with slicer blade.
