With the passing of the great and hilarious Leslie Nielsen the other day, we thought we’d honor him. It sad to see him go but the actor known mostly for his roles in Airplane! and The Naked Gun Series led a full and complete life. He lived a long 84 years before departing.

As most comedians, he’s left a lot of material and quotes about life that are not only funny but can make you think. I was reading through a few of his quotes and this one happened to strike me.

I wasn’t sure on his religious views and wanted dig a little deeper but that was really all I could gather up. If anyone has further information about his religious views, we would love to hear them. It’s always fun to hear a comedians take on such things.

Nielsen married four times: Monica Boyer (1950–1956), Alisande Ullman (1958–1973), Brooks Oliver (1981–1983) and Barbaree Earl (2001–2010, his death). He is survived by his current wife, and two daughters.

For all you young ladies out there just hitting the dating scene. Here is a little advice straight from 1938. A couple of no non-sense things to follow, like be ready to go when your date arrives and “never look bored, even if you are.” I find this one particularly entertaining (and maybe most apropos): “Don’t be sentimental or try to get him to say something he doesn’t want to by working on his emotions. Men don’t like tears, especially in public.” Looks like they could use this.

An Australian man, Demitrios Bisbelis, states that he had gotten out of bed at 2AM to do some “work” on his computer. After roughly 20 minutes he went to shut it off and get a little more shut eye. That’s when he heard a large bang. A speeding car had crashed through his house’s front wall and landed directly in his bed.

“I’m very lucky because the bed was completely destroyed. If I did survive (being hit by the car) I would have come out with very severe lifetime injuries”

The IT consultant was lying in the bed and had got up barely 20 minutes before the crash and was sitting in front of his computer to finish some work he had forgotten to do.

The car rammed through the house fence, through its front wall and came to rest on the bed.

Two 52-year-old men who were in the car suffered minor injuries.
